The policy dictates that “for any new IT project, government IT teams and their contractors must by default rely on one or more of the internal or commercial cloud offerings to cover the entire application production cycle.” That’s why the cloud has become the go to modus operandi for all government projects.

While Office 365 services are operated from data centers located in France, they are regulated by US laws. Earlier this year Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL) also banned a French website from using Google Analytics as it breaches Article 44 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It is worth noting that the US privacy laws offer less protection to users and their data, compared to EU laws.
